Suspect Chased Victim’s Vehicle In Attempted Robbery: Hamden PD
Police say the suspect attempted to forcibly enter the victim's vehicle and then chased the vehicle in a BMW and rammed it several times.
HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating an attempted robbery in which the suspect chased the victim’s vehicle for several miles in a BMW and rammed the vehicle several times late Monday night in Hamden. At about 11:50 p.m. on June 3, Hamden Police responded to a report of an attempted robbery that occurred on Elliot Drive, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that the victim, a 20-year-old Hamden resident, drove his vehicle to Elliot Drive to “pick up” his friend. They were subsequently approached by an individual, described as a black male with “long dreads,” who was wearing black clothing and a ski mask, according to Smith. The suspect attempted to forcibly enter the vehicle.
The victim fled from the area in his vehicle, while the suspect entered a BMW and chased the victim for several miles. The victim’s vehicle was “rammed between 4 and 5 times” and sustained rear-end damage, according to Smith. The victim was able to elude the suspect vehicle in the area of Lane Street, Smith said.
