Teen, 14, Robbed At Knifepoint In Hamden: Police
A 16-year-old was arrested for robbing another teen at knifepoint Tuesday night in Hamden.
HAMDEN, CT — A 14-year-old boy was robbed of his cellphone and headphones at knifepoint Tuesday night in Hamden. Police responded to a report of a “street robbery with a knife” at about 8:45 p.m. on May 28, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
The 14-year-old victim told police he was walking southbound on Whitney Avenue, in the vicinity of Wakefield Street, when he was approached by a person who demanded his belongings while pointing a knife at him, according to Smith. The suspect then stole the victim’s cellphone and headphones.
Moments later, Officer Elvin Rivera arrested a 16-year-old resident of the Children’s Center, Smith said. The juvenile, who was located on Waite Street, was found to be in the possession of the stolen items.

The juvenile was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny. He was taken to the Hartford Juvenile Detention Center, according to Smith.
