Tractor Snaps Utility Pole in Hamden: Police

Police say a tractor rolled down a hill and struck the utility pole, causing it to snap and block the road.

HAMDEN, CT — A tractor snapped a utility pole after it rolled down a hill on High Top Circle on Monday morning, according to police.

Hamden Police responded to the area of Pine Rock Avenue and High Top Circle at about 7:30 a.m. on the report of a motor vehicle accident, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said in a press release that a preliminary investigation “revealed that an individual started his tractor, at which time it rolled down a hill a short distance, striking a utility pole. The tractor snapped the utility pole, causing it to block High Top Circle. There are no reported injuries.”

High Top Circle was expected to be impassable for approximately two hours, according to Smith.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
