Victim Assaulted With Ax Handle At Gas Station: Hamden Police
Police are asking for help identifying a man accused of assaulting another man with an ax handle during a dispute at a gas station in Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — Police are asking for help with identifying a man accused of striking another man several times in the torso with an ax handle during a dispute at a gas station in Hamden. At about 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, police responded to Gulf Gas Station, located at 1624 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of an assault, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that the victim, a 50-year-old Hamden resident, was involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified customer. The customer “became very upset” when the victim was backing his motor vehicle near the gas pumps, according to Smith.
The customer then removed an ax handle from his vehicle and struck the victim several times in the torso, according to Smith. He subsequently fled from the scene in a silver minivan. Hamden Fire Rescue responded and rendered medical assistance to the victim, Smith said.
