Victim Identified In Fatal Shooting In Hamden: Police

An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting, but police are continuing to investigate the homicide, according to officials.

HAMDEN, CT — The 22-year-old man killed in a shooting late Saturday night in Hamden has been identified as Herman Bellamy, of Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Fairview Avenue and Arch Street around 10:45 p.m. on the report of shots fired, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.

Bellamy was found dead inside a vehicle that was in the road on Fairview Avenue, according to Dolan.

An investigation found that a passenger in Bellamy’s vehicle was firing a gun from the vehicle, Dolan said in an update Monday morning.

The passenger, Charles Hill, a 19-year-old New Haven resident, was arrested Sunday and charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal discharge of a firearm. He was held in lieu of a $750,000 bond with a court date of Jan. 28.
