Victim Identified in Fatal Crash; Man, 74, Charged with DUI: Hamden Police
A motorcycle operator died from injuries sustained in a collision with a car on Thursday night.

HAMDEN, CT — A 74-year-old man has been charged with DUI in connection to a crash that killed Eric Techer, who was ejected from his motorcycle in the collision on Thursday evening, according to police.
At about 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, Hamden Police responded to the area of Fitch Street and Arch Street on the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that a motorcycle, which was operated by Techer, was traveling southbound on Fitch Street. A motor vehicle, which was operated by George Williams, was traveling northbound on Fitch Street.

A collision occurred, which resulted in Techer being ejected from his motorcycle. Techer, 47, of New Haven, was later pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital, according to Smith.
Smith said further investigation revealed that Williams was intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.

Williams, 74, of Wilmont Road in New Haven, was charged with operating under the influence. Williams, who was released after posting a $1,500 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Feb. 9.
Smith said the investigation is continuing and might result in further charges.
