Victim Robbed At Gunpoint While Walking In Hamden: Police

Police are investigating after a resident was robbed of their cellphone at gunpoint.

HAMDEN, CT — A 35-year-old Hamden resident was robbed of their cellphone at gunpoint while walking on Whitney Avenue Monday evening, according to police. The robbery occurred at about 6 p.m. on Dec. 3 in the area of Whitney Avenue and Walden Street. The victim was approached by an individual while walking northbound on Whitney Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the individual, who was described as a Hispanic or light-skinned male in his 20s, 5-feet, 10-inches tall with a thin build, demanded the victim’s belongings while brandishing a firearm. He subsequently stole the victim’s cellphone and was last seen running southbound on Whitney Avenue and then entering an SUV.
