West Haven Man Arrested for Allegedly Choking, Punching Hamden Relatives of Ex-Wife: Police
The attack occurred Sunday night after the suspect broke into the Wordin Street home.

HAMDEN, CT — A 40-year-old West Haven man allegedly broke into his ex-wife's Hamden home Sunday night and attacked two of her relatives, resulting in one of them going to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
Anthony Washington was charged with:
- Burglary 3rd Degree
- Strangulation 3rd Degree
- 2 counts of Assault 3rd Degree
- Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree
- Disorderly Conduct
Police said Washington forcibly broke into the Wordin Street home at about 8 p.m., and once inside he punched a 15 year-old relative in the face and "strangled a 42 year-old family member, while dragging her throughout the house." The woman was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the juvenile suffered an injury to his jaw.

Washington fled the scene and was arrested nearby, police said. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 18; the status of his case was not immediately available.
