Woman, 67, Robbed Of Purse On Way To Church: Hamden Police

Police say the woman was robbed of her purse, which contained several hundred dollars, while she was walking to church on Sunday morning.

HAMDEN, CT — A 67-year-old Hamden woman was robbed of her purse while she was walking to church on Sunday morning, according to police. The robbery occurred in the area of Dixwell Avenue and North Street at about 10:30 a.m. on April 7. The woman was walking southbound on Dixwell Avenue to her nearby church, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the woman was approached by a black male, who was riding a “mountain bike” and subsequently “ripped” her purse from her shoulder and fled southbound. The purse contained several hundred dollars and personal items, according to Smith.

The woman wasn’t injured and police searched the surrounding area for the suspect but it was unsuccessful, according to Smith.
