Woman Bought ‘High-End’ Items With Fake $100 Bills: Hamden Police

Police are asking for help identifying two suspects in connection to recent fraud/shoplifting incidents.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Police are asking for help with identifying two suspects in connection to recent larceny/fraud incidents at Bed Bath & Beyond. Police responded to Bed Bath & Beyond, located at 2045 Dixwell Avenue, after a woman bought “high-end bedding items” with counterfeit $100 bills, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

The suspect was described as a black female, 5-feet, 5-inches tall with a medium build and wearing a blue denim shirt. To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.

The store manager told police that about three hours earlier, an individual, described as a black male, 6-2 with a thin build, wearing a green jacket, attempted to return “high-end bedding items” that were stolen from the Milford store, according to Smith. The man promptly ran out of the store when he was questioned by store personnel, Smith said.

Store management told police that there has been “a ring of individuals” using counterfeit currency to purchase high-priced items at local Bed Bath & Beyond establishments, Smith said.
