HAMDEN, CT — A Waterbury woman has been arrested after police say she embezzled about $68,000 from a home health care agency in Hamden last year. Police began investigating the case in May of 2018 after Best Choice Home Health Care, located at 60 Connolly Parkway, reported the theft.

Former employee Ashleigh Herring was found to have stolen about $68,000 from the business, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Herring, who was the payroll supervisor, paid herself thousands of dollars via direct deposit, for hours that she didn’t work, Smith said. Herring is also accused of fraudulently depositing thousands of dollars into her boyfriend’s bank account.

Det. Scott Levenduski conducted the investigation, which led to an arrest warrant for Herring.
