Woman Fraudulently Obtained 174 Percocet Pills: Hamden Police
The woman, a Walgreens employee, is accused of stealing several prescription pads and forging a physician's name, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Wallingford woman is accused of fraudulently receiving 174 Percocet pills during several transactions while using a forged prescription, according to Hamden Police.
In January, Hamden Police responded to Walgreens, located at 2505 Whitney Avenue in Hamden, on the report of fraud, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that an employee, Deane Burkhart, stole several prescription pads. Burkhart is accused of filling several prescriptions after forging the name of a local physician, according to Smith.

Smith said Burkhart fraudulently received 174 “Percocet” pills during several transactions.
Officer Stephen Phipps conducted the investigation, which led to an arrest warrant application for Burkhart.

Burkhart turned herself in on an arrest warrant on March 8 at Hamden Police Headquarters.
Burkhart, 45, of Wallingford, was charged with seven counts of illegally obtaining prescription drugs, seven counts of second-degree forgery and seven counts of sixth-degree larceny. She is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 22.
