Woman Robbed, Sexually Assaulted at Hamden Apartment: Police
Police say a man followed the woman as she entered the foyer of the apartment and then stole her pocketbook and inappropriately touched her.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Police are investigating a robbery and sexual assault that occurred at a Mix Avenue apartment on Monday afternoon.
Police responded to the scene at about 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 15 and investigation revealed that a female entered the foyer of the apartment at which time a man followed her inside, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said the man then pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the woman and she was forced into a nearby stairwell where her pocketbook was stolen.

In addition, the suspect inappropriately touched the victim, according to Smith.
Police conducted a search for the suspect with a K-9 unit, but it was met with negative results, Smith said.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, about 5-feet, 10-inches tall with a muscular build. He was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and weightlifting gloves.
