East Hartford Police Officer Charged In Bar Incident: Report

An East Hartford police officer is accused of brandishing a loaded service weapon while drunk, according to a report.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A police officer has been arrested and put on administrative duty on allegations that he brandished his loaded service weapon while drunk at a bar in Hartford, according to The Journal Inquirer. Jose Santiago was charged with carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and second-degree breach of peace.

Santiago has been placed on administrative duty while an Internal Affairs investigation is completed.

The accusations are related to an incident March 12 in which Santiago had an argument with a patron at the Red Rock Tavern.
