Just in time for spring, Tamie, from Glastonbury Flowershop, will bring the flowers and you bring a teacup to learn how to make a lovely flower arrangement to decorate your house or to take to a friend. On Wednesday, May 2, at 10 a.m. you can take part in a make-your-own Teacup Floral Arrangement. This is the perfect use for a teacup with a chip, one that is stained or a teacup you do not use. The cost is $10 per person. Please register and pay in advance.

Statewide Legal Services offers free legal assistance for financially eligible older adults who are experiencing legal issues in the areas of Family Law, Public Benefits, Housing, Unemployment, and Elder Law including wills, power of attorneys, and advance health care directives. To receive this assistance, you must complete an online intake form and undergo a financial eligibility screening. A staff member from Statewide Legal Services will complete the intake with you on Friday, April 27. Schedule your free 45 minute appointment by calling the Senior Center at 860-568-4281. Most people who apply hear from an attorney in 5 to 7 days.

Come for coffee with the East Hartford Police on Wednesday, April 25 at 10 a.m. As a part of outreach to the community, the Police Department will bring coffee and donuts for Coffee with the Chiefs. What a great way to have a discussion. Let us know if you are coming.

Senior Dental Hygiene students from Springfield Technical Community College are, as a part of their education, interested in educating seniors on oral hygiene, gum disease, nutrition and xerostomia (dry mouth). Come join in the games and activities! Stop by for free goodies and prizes from 2 to 4 p.m. on April 20, 23, 25 and 30 at the Senior Center. Attend one or all sessions. No registration is necessary.

Newkirk and Whitney/Callahan Funeral Homes and Catholic Cemeteries Association invite you to the East Hartford Senior Center on Tuesday, April 17 at 1 p.m. for a difficult but important conversation at The Dignity of Life Informational Seminar. Glenn Davis will share his photos and experiences about his bicycle trip, Transcontinental Bicycle Odyssey – California to Connecticut. Glenn travels the Blue Ridge Parkway, West Virginia, Gettysburg, Delaware, Hudson River and back to Connecticut. Join Glenn on Wednesday, April 18 at 10 a.m. in the Dining Room.

Herbert T. Clark Apartments and Assisted Living in Glastonbury, has invited East Hartford older adults to learn about their affordable housing and services on Friday, April 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. Brunch will be served, transportation provided, if needed, and registration is required. Please call the East Hartford Senior Center to register for this learning opportunity.

A Breast Cancer Update will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 1 p.m. Learn the prevalence, risk factors, prevention, and early detection. Please call to make a reservation.
