Expressing your creativity can improve your mood and engage your brain. Research shows that people who take part in creative arts activities visited the doctor less often and had improved mental health. The East Hartford Senior Center is offering Create A Collage taught by a local artist. Treasured greeting cards, special fabric, a certain picture, all come together as a theme when you learn the art of collage. Artist and teacher, Kim Desrosiers, brings the art supplies and you bring the memories. Take two hours for yourself to relax and be creative. Participants will discover their inner artist and leave with a one-of-a-kind work of art. Bring any personal memories you would like to incorporate. Please register in advance. The cost is $25 per person and will be held on Monday, May 7, 10 a.m.
Join us for The Elderly Brothers in concert on Friday, May 18, at 1 p.m. Long-time popular solo artists, T-Bone Stankus and Brian Gillie have teamed up as the Elderly Brothers, serving up mint-condition “oldies” rock ‘n’ roll with pitch-perfect harmonies and soulful improvisations as fresh as the originals. No sleepwalk down memory lane with these guys. Their radiant renditions and audience interaction are unsurpassed. Enjoy the solid groove and the upbeat, move-it-or-lose-it, ‘50s and ‘60s bandstand repertoire that has made each of them such talented, innovative and celebrated performers. Tickets are on sale for $2 per person in the Senior Center office. Dessert is sponsored by The Hearth at Glastonbury.
