He began the season with the Yard Goats, and was called up to the big leagues Saturday from Triple-A.

HARTFORD, CT — For the first time this season, a player who was on the Hartford Yard Goats opening day roster has been promoted to the major leagues.
The Colorado Rockies selected the contract of infielder Garrett Hampson from Triple-A Albuquerque and placed infielder DJ LeMahieu on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain. Additionally, they have designated infielder Daniel Castro for assignment.
Hampson, 23, made his major league debut Saturday in Arizona, and cracked a run-scoring double in his second at-bat. He also made two outstanding defensive plays at second base during the Rockies' 6-5 victory over the Diamondbacks.
