Northern CT Weather: Light Snow Thursday, Freezing Cold Arrives

Here are the latest estimates for snow in Hartford/Tolland counties Thursday and a look at just how cold it will get later this week.

NORTHERN CONNECTICUT — It appears northern Connecticut is right on the fringe of whether it will see any accumulating snow on Thursday morning. The National Weather Service places the odds at 50 percent that an inch of snow may accumulate.

In southern Connecticut, the weather service is predicting a general 1-3 inches of snow.

NBC CT meteorologist Bob Maxon posted on Twitter Wednesday morning that he is projecting 1-3 inches of snow for most of the state and considered increasing that to four inches in some spots but cautioned that the weather models are still changing. But he did say the "AM commute looks tough." (You can view more details on the NBC CT weather forecast here).

The biggest story concerning the weather will be the freezing cold temperatures that arrives Thursday night.

Low temperatures on Thursday fall to 5 degrees, and daytime highs on Friday fail to reach 20 degrees. It will stay below the freezing mark this weekend, and that trend continues through at least next Tuesday.
