Teen Shot In Chest At Parking Lot In East Hartford: Police

No suspect information is available as authorities continue to investigate.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A young East Hartford man was shot in the chest late Sunday night in an "isolated incident" at a local parking lot.

According to the East Hartford Police Department, just before 11 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the area of School Street and Burnside Avenue for a reported gunshot victim.

Dispatchers told officers the initial caller stated he had just pulled into the East Hartford Public Safety Complex at 31 School St. and his friend had been shot in the chest.

East Hartford Fire Department paramedics arrived and provided life-saving measures, police said.

The victim, a 19-year-old male, was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

"Fortunately, the victim is now in stable condition," wrote police Monday morning in a release.

Police said this appears to be an "isolated incident, and there is no immediate danger to the community."

According to the EHPD, the initial incident took place in the rear parking lot of 700 Burnside Ave. and police have located shell casings in the area.

"This is currently an active investigation," wrote the EHPD.

"Detectives are gathering evidence and speaking with potential witnesses. There is no suspect information at this time."
