Third Major Fire This Week Displaces 20 In Hartford: Reports

The fire started in a nearby abandoned building and spread to a multi-family apartment building nearby.

HARTFORD, CT — City firefighters have been working hard this week, with three major fires displacing more than 60 people, the latest blaze on Ward Street late Thursday night.

According to WFSB Channel 3, the fire was reported at about 11:45 p.m. from an apartment building on Ward Street.

As a result of the fire, 20 people — 18 adults and two children — were evacuated into the freezing temperatures, WFSB reported.

WTNH Channel 8 said the blaze started in a vacant building and then spread to the multi-family building on Ward Street.

This is the third inferno this week to displace residents.

Fox 61 reports that 15 residents were displaced by a fire at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, Jan. 14.

That fire destroyed a multi-unit apartment building on Tower Avenue in the city's northeast neighborhood.

On Monday night, Jan. 13, 26 residents of another apartment building in Hartford were displaced after a fire destroyed the building at 9:30 p.m. on Wethersfield Avenue.

Volunteers from the American Red Cross are assisting the victims of all three fires in Hartford.
