Crashes On I-84 Cause Major Mess In East Hartford: UPDATE

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Friday's morning commute was a nightmare for motorists on Interstate 84 in East Hartford, with two serious accidents impacting the ride, though both have now been cleared.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the first accident — involving a tractor-trailer and another vehicle — was on I-84 West between exits 57 and 56.

As a result, the crash has resulted in the left lane being closed.

The accident was first reported at 6:49 a.m. and it is now no longer listed on the DOT's incident report.

Shortly thereafter, a two-vehicle accident on I-84 East in East Hartford, between exits 58 and 59, caused problems, with the four right lanes of the highway closed. It has also been cleared.

That accident was first reported at 6:56 a.m. and it is no longer listed on the DOT's incident report.
