• Groups seeking federal acknowledgement as an Indian Tribe (September 2026 update) (theonefeather.com) — A state-recognized tribe based in Kent, the Schaghticoke Indian Tribe, is currently undergoing a Phase II technical assistance review in its bid for federal acknowledgment. The update explains where this and other tribes nationwide stand in the complex Office of Federal Acknowledgment process, outlining the criteria and stages that determine whether groups gain full federal tribal status.
