• Ledyard Man Charged With Cruelty To Animals, Police Say (patch.com) — Ledyard residents are learning more about an animal cruelty case after police say a local man admitted during an unrelated call that he drowned a cat in a bathtub. Officers confirmed the cat's death at a nearby home, arrested the man on a cruelty to animals charge, and released him on bond ahead of a September court date in New London.
   

• GFI's new Ledyard plan calls for bringing in dredge material (theday.com) — Ledyard residents are weighing a new proposal from Gales Ferry Intermodal to barge dredged material to the former Dow Chemical site on Route 12, mix it with cement, and prepare the land for future industrial use.
