Ledyard Schools have a two hour delay for Thursday, Jan. 8, the Ledyard Fire Department posted via Twitter.

The weather outside is so frightful that the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook and a wind chill advisory until 8 a.m. Thursday. Ledyard homes are without power due to the cold and firefighters are on scene at a chimney fire.

- Tonight Mostly clear, with a low around -1. Wind chill values between -10 and -20. Northwest wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
- Thursday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 18. Wind chill values between -10 and -20. West wind 10 to 13 mph.
- Thursday Night: A slight chance of snow showers after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to near 17 by 10pm, then rising to around 25 during the remainder of the night. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Friday: A chance of snow showers before 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 34. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. West wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
