The town's Police Chief said the aging equipment is in major need of an upgrade. Funds are requested via the capital improvement plan.

Madison Police Chief Jack Drumm says it’s only a matter of time before the antiquated emergency dispatch system and equipment used by police, fire and ambulance staff fails.

That is why public safety officials are seeking a $1.8 million system and equipment upgrade over the next seven years, the Madison Source reports.

The funds are being sought via the town’s Capital Improvement Plan. The original estimate for the work was $3.6 million but it’s been reduced in half, the Source reports.
