Coronavirus Madison Update: 7 Deaths, 77 Reported Cases

While Monday Madison reported 66 cases and six deaths, by Tuesday morning, it had 11 new positive cases of coronavirus and another death.

MADISON, CT — Late Monday afternoon, First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons posted the latest COVID-19 update for the town. A few hours later, Gov. Ned Lamont, at 8 p.m., shared the state's latest virus data. By Tuesday morning, Madison health director Trent Joseph provided another update.

So in around 12 hours, Madison went from 68 positive cases to 77 and from six to seven deaths.

As reported late Monday, while the state continues to see a decline in the net number of hospitalizations, another 88 people died, which brings the state's total to 2,012.

But the news of a decrease in hospitalizations, the measure by which Lamont's administration is gauging Connecticut's coronavirus situation, may mean the state is seven to 10 days away from an announcement about certain businesses that can be reopened in a limited capacity.

It's noted that an increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases will likely be a result of dramatically increased testing but that the overall true infection rate is dropping.
