Tentative Timeline in Place for Downtown Madison Beautification Project
The project has been in the works for over a decade and is finally seeing progress.

At a recent Board of Selectmen meeting, Director of Public Works Mike Ott updated the selectmen on the Downtown Madison beautification project, Jack Kramer reports from The Source.
Ott said two landscape architecture firms had been retained for the project and the streetscape improvement is designed and ready to go out to bid, the paper reports.
The requests for bids will be advertised in Feb. 2015 with work starting in the Spring and finishing prior to the holiday season.

According to the paper, infrastructure has been placed on the south side of Route 1 for the utility portion of the project while work on the north side has been designed and is ready to go out to bid. The town will also hire an outside utility person to help with relocation of utility services for individual buildings, who will be paid with state grant money.
State grant money will also be used to pay for the cost of utility connections for buildings on the southern side of Route 1, the paper reports. An informative meeting with downtown property and business owners will take place early next year.
