MANCHESTER, CT — After more than a decade serving up craft beers and fresh food in a fun atmosphere on Middle Turnpike West, the Stone and Paddle restaurant is closing in Manchester.

The announcement was made Tuesday. Friday will be the final day in business for the restaurant.

"We have been delaying making this announcement, but the time has come to close the doors for the final time," the owners said in a social media post. "After 13 plus years of having some serious fun in the Manchester area we have decided to wrap it up."

The owners said they gave their landlords notification "a while ago" that the lease at 269 Middle Turnpike West would not be renewed.

Several parties have since expressed interested in the location, Stone and Paddle owners said.

"The owners of the Stone and Paddle own other companies though Connecticut and now Vermont, so they think it is time to focus on the other businesses more and let someone else have fun in the Manchester community," according to the announcement.

Staffers will be offered relocation to other businesses, severance, and other assistance "so they can move on with or without us," owners said.

"In the coming week, the sales we do will significantly impact the amount of severance our longterm staff gets as we plan on doing a business as usual until the 13th," according to the announcement. "We plan on using most of this week's sales to pad the severance our longtime employees get. So stop in say goodbye to the crew at the Paddle, as it will be a very different place in a few short months."
