Arrest Made In 2022 High-Speed Incident That Originated In Manchester And Ended In Tolland County

Charges have been filed after a wild ride in Manchester and into Tolland County four years ago.

MANCHESTER, CT — State police have made an arrest in a pursuit that took place four years ago.

According to a warrant, at 4:30 p.m. on June 1, 2022, a BMW 5 Series with Massachusetts plates had sped away from other vehicles — and around a state policer cruiser — after nearly causing a serious crash on Interstate 84 in Manchester.

As troopers gave chase with the vehicle now in Vernon the driver could be seen pointing an object at troopers, according to a warrant.

As troopers attempted to box in the BMW for a second time, the driver headed into the swale and into the high occupancy vehicle lane at better than 100 mph, according to a warrant.

State police were unsure if the object being pointed at them was a weapon, but nevertheless caught up the the BMW near the Massachusetts line and were finally able to box it in and slow it down, according to a warrant.

The driver then stuck his hand — and the object — out the window and it turned out to be a phone that was filming the incident, according to a warrant. He then refused to exit the BMW and was pulled out of the vehicle and arrested, according to a warrant.

The driver was identified as Sherlon Wright, 45, of Dorchester, MA. He was charged with reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit and second-degree reckless endangerment.
