MANCHESTER, CT — A set of gas pumps at a neighborhood filling station in Manchester could soon be a lot easier to find.

Municipal planning officials said that a new Zoning Board of Appeals application has been submitted that requests a setback variance for a proposed canopy over the pumps at 220 Spruce Street.

There are currently a single row of pumps and a convenience store at the location.

At first glance, the gas station seems like a tight fit in the neighborhood once the canopy is added. There is a house both directly across the street and to the right when looking directly at the parcel.

The station also abuts the Spruce Street-Maple Street intersection. Spruce Street runs parallel to Main Street in the Downtown area.

The pumps currently do not have any cover and the canopy would add additional light and safety elements.
