Dogs Attacked by Coyotes in Manchester
Police warn that coyotes have heightened aggression during whelping season.
MANCHESTER, CT - A dog was injured Friday when a pair of coyotes attacked while it was walking alongside its owner on a trail in the southeastern part of Manchester, Capt. Christopher Davis said.
The town’s animal control officer was dispatched to the area of Garth Road for a report of two dogs being attacked by a pair of coyotes.
The dogs' owner and one dog were uninjured; the other dog received five wounds and is currently being treated at a local veterinarian’s office, Davis said.
According to the DEEP, coyotes have heightened aggression during whelping season. Area residents should use caution when walking outside, and should be particularly careful in letting their dogs out in the area.
