Family Dog In Manchester Has A Happy Holiday — Thanks To Firefighters

MANCHESTER, CT — A family dog in Manchester had a little more than the noise of fireworks to contend with this Fourth of July.

It was a real fire, but thanks to the quick work of Manchester firefighters, the dog had reason to celebrate.

On the afternoon of July 4, Manchester firefighters responded to 388 Hartford Road for a structure fire. A dog named Blue was still inside on the second floor, but was quickly found and evacuated by firefighters. Blue was handed off to his Truck 2 chauffeur to be evaluated and reunited with his people, fire officials said.

The first engine arrived within three minutes of the alarm and found a fire on the second floor of the building.

In all, Manchester Fire responded with 18 firefighters and placed the incident under control within 27 minutes.

The property was deemed uninhabitable and six occupants were temporarily displaced.

No injuries were reported. The incident is presently under investigation by the FMO of the Manchester Fire Department.
