Fire Calls In Manchester Surpassed 10,000 For 2023, Report Says

MANCHESTER, CT — The Manchester Fir4e Department responded to more than 10,000 calls in 2023.

Statistics for the year were released this week.

The total amount of calls was 10,140.

Fire "incidents" totaled 186 and there were 67 structure fires.

Emergency medical and rescue calls totaled 7,461.

"Good intent" calls and false alarms were 689 and 703, respectively.

Service calls totaled 504 and calls involving hazardous materials added up to 389.

The MFD operates seven stations with shift strengths of 23, meaning that, for the year, the town had 29,937 individual firefighter responses, or an average of 82 firefighters put into action daily, officials said.
