It's Almost, Maine After All . . .

When a show is written with a curious title, like Almost, Maine, it certainly sets off quite a conversation about what it is and what it's about.

First, let's clarify.  Its a sweet little play, several vignettes, about the love, the loss of love, the sweetness of love in a small town in Maine -- Almost.

With the Northern Lights providing magical connections to the humans in this small town, love is found, love is loss, love is experienced.  The joy of marketing our productions at Little Theatre of Manchester is having a title like Almost, Maine, because it lends itself to conversation.

If I said South Pacific (coming up in November) or Our Town, you would know about it immediately.  But with new plays, it gives you an opportunity to talk about it, the playwright, John Cariani, and why you would want to come see it.

Maine is one of those great states that we all know and love, but are pretty curious about.  It's known for vacations, pine trees, lobster and its beautiful shoreline. Other than that . . . nothing much stands out, and maybe that's okay.  So, a play about love in an obscure town in Maine, maybe that's okay too.

We think it is and hope you will too. Directed by Mike Zizka.  The LTM Lunchtime Lecture about Almost, Maine is on Wednesday, May 21 at noon, here at Cheney Hall.  Show Dates:  June 6-8, 12-15, 20-22.  Tickets: $24/$19 available at the box office, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Sponsored by the Rockville Bank Foundation.
