Man Arrested After Busting Up Manchester Town Hall With Baseball Bat: Police

It took some time for police to identify the man.

MANCHESTER, CT — A man was arrested after going on a rampage at Manchester Town Hall with a baseball bat, police said.

Police said on Tuesday at about 3 p.m., a black male who appears to be in his late 30s walked into Manchester Town Hall, 41 Center St., armed with a baseball bat.

The man then proceeded to start smashing out the glass on various display cabinets in Town Hall using the baseball bat, police said.

Town Hall workers went into a lockdown mode as the incident was unfolding, police said.

When Officers arrived on scene, the suspect was sitting on a staircase and "provided passive resistance" as they attempted to handcuff him.

Police at first were attempting to identify the man and released his picture.

He was eventually identified as Corey Robinson, 32, of 35 Lilac St. Manchester. He was charged with:

  • Criminal Mischief
  • Second-degree breach of peace
  • Failure to submit to fingerprinting
  • Interfering with police

Carrying a dangerous weapon

As of Tuesday night, he was being held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to be presented in court on Wednesday, police said.
