Manchester Brewhouse Officially Opens

MANCHESTER, CT — The opening weekend for a new brewhouse in Manchester kicked off Thursday.

The establishment wants to permanently add outdoor entertainment to its offerings.

Manchester Planning Department officials said they have received an application from Urban Lodge Brewing Co. for a special exception permit that would allow outdoor entertainment —speficially bands and musicians — at its 45 Purnell Place location.

Urban Lodge Brewing opened this summer. It is the third brewery in town.

It quickly became a conversation piece with the large mural painted over a plain white wall.

Urban Lodge Brewing Co. occupies about 7,000 square feet in the old industrial building, officials said. The layout includes a five-barrel brewery and space for 293 customers.

The brewery also features a 1,500-square-foot outdoor patio.
