Manchester Cops Serve 4 Warrants On Accused Car Burglar

A Hartford man was charged in four warrants Tuesday.

MANCHESTER, CT — A man suspected of participating in several auto-related thefts is now facing multiple charges out of Manchester, police said.

After what police termed "an extensive investigation," 22-year-old Tajay Hunter of Hartford was arrested Tuesday on four outstanding warrants related to vehicle burglaries that occurred in Manchester over the course of the past five months. Hinter's arrest was a culmination of efforts by the Greater Hartford Auto Theft Task Force and Manchester Officer Jonathan Sargolini, currently assigned to the Task Force, police said.

During the commission of the burglaries, guns and other personal property were taken out of vehicles after windows were smashed, police said.

Hunter was also involved in the theft of multiple catalytic converters, police said.

Hunter was booked on bonds totaling $500,000. If he fails to post it, he is slated to appear in court Wednesday.

Hunter currently has four other outstanding arrest warrants for his involvement in similar crimes in East Hartford, Glastonbury and Rocky Hill, police said.

The Manchester warrants were for:

March 25

Two separate catalytic converter thefts took place at 194 Buckland Hills Drive and 1442 Pleasant Valley Road. Hunter has been charged with sixth-degree larceny (two Counts), tampering with a motor vehicle and third-degree criminal mischief.

May 16

A catalytic converter was taken, as well as a Chromebook, from vehicles parked at 49 Pavilions Drive. Hunter has been charged with sixth- and fifth-degree larceny, tampering with a motor vehicle and third-degree criminal mischief.

June 17

One catalytic converter theft and two vehicle burglaries took place at 1351 Tolland Turnpike. Hunter has been charged with third-degree burglary (two counts), tampering with a motor vehicle, larceny ion the fourth-degree, fifth-degree and sixth-degree and third-degree and third-degree criminal mischief.

July 17

Six car burglaries took place and two guns were among the items stolen from vehicles in the area of 194 Buckland Hills Drive and 99 Redstone Road. Hunter has been charged with sixth-degree larceny, fifth-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, theft of a firearm and third-degree criminal mischief.
