One of the stolen registers was recovered from the front yard of a home in Stratford, Westport police said.

WESTPORT, CT — A 29-year-old Manchester man was arrested on a warrant this week in connection with the theft of two cash registers from a business in Westport last year, according to authorities.
Rafael Delvalle, who is incarcerated on unrelated crimes, was charged by Westport police on Tuesday with the following:
The incident is alleged to have occurred on Sept. 14, when Westport police officers were called to Westport Auto Repair on the Post Road East on a report of a burglary.

"The manager explained that when he opened for the day, he discovered two cash registers missing from the premises," wrote Lt. Anthony Prezioso in a statement. "Further investigation revealed that overnight the front door to the business had been pried open by the suspects, who initially attempted to steal the store’s ATM but ultimately took only the cash registers. The two registers contained a total of $1000.00 in cash and over $4,800.00 in damage/loss was reported due to the incident."
One of the missing registers was recovered on the same day in the front yard of a Stratford home. Surveillance video from the business "captured images of what appeared to be three suspects in total, two of which entered the premises during the burglary, as well as their vehicle," Prezioso said.

Westport police conducted an extensive investigation, which included information sharing with other agencies investigating similar crimes; the drafting and execution of a search warrant; and a review of license plate reader data.
The work led to Delvalle being developed as one of the suspects, according to Prezioso, and an arrest warrant was obtained. The investigation is still active.
Delvalle remains in custody in lieu of bail of $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 24.
