Manchester Man Arrested For Commuter Lot Armed Robbery

A Manchester man has been charged in a commuter lot robbery in Vernon, state police said.

VERNON, CT — A Manchester man has been charged in an armed robbery that took place last fall in a Vernon commuter lot, according to an arrest warrant.

Eugene Batchelor, 25, of Garden St., Manchester, was charged via a warrant with first-degree robbery, first-degree threatening and sixth-degree larceny, according to an arrest report.

According to a warrant, a 32-year-old woman called police at 10:47 p.m. on Nov. 29 of last year to say she was held up by men who approached her at the Exit 67 commuter lot off Interstate-84. She was talking to a male acquaintance and saw a car pull into the lot, take a lap and then drive toward her, according to case records.

A man then exited the vehicle and pointed a gun at both the woman and her friend, according to a warrant.

Her friend then, "in a panic," jumped into his vehicle and drove away, leaving the woman with the robbers, a warrant states. According to a warrant, after he left, the assailants asked the woman "What do you got?"

They robbed her of $200 and drove away, state police said in a warrant.

The woman then gave full descriptions of the robbers to state police, according to a warrant.

The bandits fled the lot in what appeared to be a white 2007 Nissan Altima, according to a report.

Batchelor appeared in court on Wednesday shortly after his arrest and had his case continued until Sept. 12, according to judicial system records. His initial $250,000 bond was reduced to $100,000 but he remained in custody on Friday, court rercords indicate.
