Manchester Panhandler Turns Out To Be Wanted Man

A man was looking for money in Manchester and Rhode Island authorities were looking for him, a report indicates.

MANCHESTER, CT — A guy looking for money in a Manchester retail district turned out to be a fugitive wanted in Rhode Island, police said.

Police on Thursday received reports about a man "soliciting money under false pretenses" near stores in the northern part of town, a report indicates. At first, 57-year-old Dana Hornblower gave officers a fake name but police were eventually able to confirm his identity, a report says.

Hornblower was issued a misdemeanor summons for interfering with police before being released at the scene, according to a report.

Later on Thursday, Manchester were alerted that Hornblower had an extraditable warrant out of Rhode Island on fraud and larceny charges. He was tracked down around 9 p.m. at the Best Value Inn on Tolland Turnpike and charged with being a fugitive from justice, according to a report.

Hornblower was being held on a $500,000 bond.
