Manchester Police Identify 15-Year-Old Victim Of Fatal Crash
The girl killed in a car versus pedestrian crash in Manchester last week has been identified.

MANCHESTER, CT — The 15-year-old girl who died after being hit by a vehicle near her school in Manchester last week has been identified, police said.
The crash took place at 5:37 p.m. Feb. 2, on New State Road in the area of Hilliard Street, police said. That is near Cheney Tech, where Jennfier Nicholas was a student. Police identified her as the victim Monday per the office of the chief medical examiner. She is from Hartford, police said.
Officers and firefighters arrived at the scene and found the girl in the road, suffering from what they described as "significant life-threatening injuries," according to a crash report. Emergency medical care was given to her at the scene and she was transported to Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford by ambulance, police said.

According to a crash report, the vehicle that struck the girl had been traveling north on New State Road and was located a short distance from the initial scene. Police subsequently identified the driver as an 81-year-old man from Manchester.
No charges had been filed as of Friday morning and Manchester police spokesman Lt. Ryan Shea Monday reiterated his belief that the investigation will be a lengthy one.

The driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
The Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit and the Metro Traffic Services Crash Reconstruction Team are the lead investigators. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information should contact Officer Kevin Jackson at 860-533-8651, police said.
