More Tweaks In Order For Former J.C. Penney Warehouse
The latest tweaks to the massive former J.C. Penney warehouse in Manchester have been filed.

MANCHESTER, CT — The latest tweaks to the massive former J.C. Penney warehouse on Tolland turnpike in Manchester include adding employee parking and more efficient access points in the northwest quadrant of the 162-acre campus.
The facility sits at 1339 Tolland Turnpike in the Buckland Hills area of Manchester. The pans are slated for review at the Dec. 7 Manchester Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
Owner Winstanley Enterprises is in the midst of a $40 million plan to spruce up the campus after it bought the building for $70 million.

Stop & Shop parent Ahold Delhaize will be moving into the warehouse, likely in the spring. The company, which owns other supermarket chains, made the announcement 11 months ago as part of a $480 million plan to "transform and expand" its U.S. supply chain operations over the next three years. More than 500 jobs are expected to come with it at the local level.
Ahold Delhaize will occupy about 975,000 square feet of the 1.95-million-square-foot facility with an April move-in planned. J.C. Penny recently agreed to remain in about 650,000 square feet of the building in a buy and lease-back deal with Winstanley Enterprises.
