Teen Caught With Loaded Gun On Manchester High School Campus

MANCHESTER, CT — A teen already wanted in a Manchester assault case was located with a loaded handgun in a lot at Manchester High School, police said.

On Monday afternoon, Manchester police took into custody a 16 year old boy as part of an investigation into what they termed a serious assault in town Friday just before 8 p.m.

Police obtained a custody order for the teen before he was taken into custody after officers located the boy in the parking lot of Manchester High School near Brookfield Street. School resource officers and detectives approached the boy, he began to resist, police said.

After securing the boy, officers located a loaded Glock 26 9mm firearm on him, according t0 an incident report. A check of the serial number on the firearm showed that it was listed as stolen out of Georgia in June of 2022, according t0 an incident report.

The boy was was charged with first-degree assault in connection with the Friday incident.

He has additionally been charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a weapon on school grounds, and second-degree reckless endangerment, police said.

The boy was was transported to a juvenile detention center in Hartford pending a court appearance, police said.
