CT Police Rescue Driver From Flooded Truck

State troopers and others rescued a driver from an area flooded due to Tropical Storm Elsa.

COLUMBIA, CT — Emergency responders rescued a person in Columbia whose truck had gotten stuck due to flooding, according to a statement from state police. Police received a call requesting help at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with the caller saying that he saw a truck in what police described as a "newly formed flowing waterway" on Parker Bridge Road.

The pickup truck's driver was unable to escape due to the high-flowing, chest-deep water, and the truck was quickly filling with water.

State Police Troop K troopers, Columbia Fire Department personnel, and Sergeant Russell Iger from the Coventry Police Department responded to the emergency.
