Tree In Poor Condition Removed From State Road In Mansfield
A tree in poor health was recently removed by state workers.
MANSFIELD, CT — The state Department of Transportation recently removed a large white oak tree located at the intersection of Dog Lane and Storrs Road (Route 195), according to a statement from the town.
DOT officials reviewed the overall condition of the tree and found it to be in poor health.
The tree had an extensive number of cavities and dead branches providing concern, according to the statement. The tree was within the Route 195 right-of-way, meaning it belonged to the state. State workers removed the tree and will remove the stump soon.

The town plans to make something commemorative from the trunk of the tree, assuming it is in good condition, and will develop a plan to replace it with another tree in the same area.
