UConn Dining Hall Worker Is Found Dead on Campus

The man, who was working overnight storm duty, was found unresponsive in a cot.

University of Connecticut police are investigating the death of a dining services employee who had stayed overnight Sunday for storm duty, according to reports.

A univeristy official said police and medical crews were called to McMahon Hall on Monday morning where the man, identified as James Perkins of Ashford, was found unresponsive on a cot where he had slept, according to The Hartford Courant.

He died at some point overnight, and foul play is not suspected, according to The Courant.

The dining hall was closed for lunch and co-workers were sent to a different dining area and given the option to go home, according to WFSB.

Perkins worked at UConn since 2003, and was “highly regarded and will be greatly missed,” UConn spokesperson Stephanie Reitz said.
