Driver Backs Into His Mother, Bystander Juvenile In McDonald’s Parking Lot: Meriden Police
Two people were seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in the McDonald's parking lot in Meriden, according to police.
MERIDEN, CT — A man struck his mother with his car while driving in reverse in the McDonald’s parking lot Tuesday night in Meriden, police said in an update on Wednesday morning.
A 13-year-old boy, who had no ties to the driver or his mother, was also struck by the car in the parking lot, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.
Police responded around 5 p.m. on Jan. 13 to a report of a motor vehicle crash in the McDonald’s parking lot at 783 East Main St. in Meriden. There was also an initial report of possible shots fired that was unfounded, according to police.

Officers found that two pedestrians had been struck by a 2019 black Acura TLX.
Police said the pedestrians were identified as a 13-year-old boy who had been walking with friends in the parking lot, and a 62-year-old woman who was also in the parking lot.

The 13-year-old was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where police said he was being treated for internal injuries and was listed in stable condition.
The 62-year-old woman was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment of injuries to her extremities and was also listed in stable condition, according to police.
The driver was detained and was also being treated at the hospital for an unknown medical issue for observation, according to McKay.

The victims, a woman and a juvenile male, are being treated at the scene by medical personnel, according to Lt. Darrin McKay.
WFSB 3 reports the victims are receiving medical treatment for serious injuries that aren't life-threatening.
McKay said the driver is at the scene and cooperating with the investigation.
