Citizens Bank Announces Woodbridge Branch Will Close: Report

WOODBRIDGE, CT — Citizens Bank will close its Amity Road branch in Woodbridge, according to The New Haven Register. The location will close Oct. 18.

Bank customers recently received a letter notifying them of the branch's closure. Nearby Citizens Bank locations that will remain open include two in Hamden.

The announcement comes as many banks across the state have shuttered branches in recent years in part due to customers conducting business online.

Webster Bank announced it would be closing its Old Saybrook location last month.

In late 2020, Webster Bank announced it would be closing 27 branches, including 16 in Connecticut. The move came as the bank reported that more customers were choosing mobile and online services since the beginning of the pandemic.

Wells Fargo branches in Monroe and Waterbury also recently announced closings.

Meanwhile, JP Morgan Chas has gone in the opposite direction of most banks, adding two physical locations in Vernon and East Hartford.
