A good samaritan found the dog, a one-year-old Maltese/Poodle mix now named Snowflake. Someone had purposely placed an elastic band over Snowflake’s snout, restricting her from opening her mouth.

Snowflake is being treated for the infections caused as a result of the elastic band embedding into her flesh. According to police, the dog was also malnourished as she had not been able to eat for an extended period of time.

Donations may also be dropped off at the office located at 311 Murdock Avenue, Meriden, CT.

“For now, Snowflake will not be up for adoption until all of her infection has cleared up and her surgeries are completed,” Meriden Animal Control announced on Facebook.

According to WFSB, if the suspect is caught he or she will likely face a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge.

Anyone who recognizes the dog is asked to contact Meriden Animal Control as they are actively searching for the owner.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to contact either animal control officer Kline or animal control officer Bacon at 203-235-4179.
