
The Central Connecticut Civic Youth Orchestra (CCCYO) is holding its annual Open House for New Musicians on Thursday, August 25, 2011, from 5 to 7pm, at the Center Congregational Church, 474 Broad Street (Rt. 5) at the corner of East Main Street in Meriden.
The CCCYO is recruiting for the Foundational Ensemble, the Principal Ensemble and the Advanced Chamber Ensemble. Entering musicians for the Foundational Ensemble must have at least one full calendar year of consistent music instruction on the instrument he or she will play in the CCCYO.
Many of the group's members audition for and play in the Regional and All State festivals. The group assists musicians with music school auditions and general technique.

The CCCYO performs six times a year and offers other advanced-level music education programs for brass, strings, etc.
Musicians should bring their instruments to the Open House and be prepared to play for one or two minutes. The organization's professional music educators and staff will be on hand to listen to musicians and speak with parents. The CCCYO has five professional music educators/ professional music coaches.

The CCCYO had 57 young musicians last year and would like to increase that by 25% this year.
Tuition is $125 to families, with musically eligible siblings at no further cost. Scholarships are available. The group requests donations and scholarships from area individuals, civic groups, businesses and foundations to cover the rest of its yearly costs.
The first rehearsal is Thursday, September 1, from 4:30 to 7:30pm at the same place.
